As Nathan and Jack prepare for their 189 mile bike ride to raise money for BrAMS charity, they have recently started training together, here is part 2 of their training diary:

This weekend we pushed the boundary’s and decided to hit some major hills. This is because on the last day of our of our 189 mile cycle to Perranporth we will be climbing some very steep and long hills.

The route we planned this week was to ride from Bristol to Chepstow and back. If you have never been to Chepstow, it’s a beautiful town with some amazing views but has one of the steepest hills in to the town. On the way down it was bliss but when we were on our way back, going up the hill, it was one of the hardest thing I have ever done on a BMX bike.

BS7 Gym members John Kane and Alex Bone joined us on the ride and we were grateful for the extra company and motivation. Although seeing them cruise away from us on the flat parts of the ride on their flashy carbon fibre bikes was painful to watch!

The day after our ride to Chepstow and back, my legs were like lead! Unfortunately, we haven't got time to rest as the the ride is just around the corner.

Next week it’s one of the longest and steepest mountains for us to tackle, Caerphilly mountain in Wales.  Two laps up and down should be enough to prepare our legs for the hills in Cornwall.

We are hugely grateful for any donations. If you would like to donate, please click here.

Thanks,

Nathan
