17 June 2014
Jules Griffin completed the Trekfest 2014 last Sunday, a 54 mile trek through the Brecon Beacon mountains this weekend which took 22 hours, a huge achievement for one of the gyms most well known staff members.
Jules completed the walk with her son Jack. Fellow BS7 Members David, Bernadette and Maggie also took on various versions of the walk. A fantastic effort by all of the team
Jules was raising money for the charity ‘Bristol Mind’ which is a charity very close to her heart. The charity helps all types of people who suffer from depression and or anxiety.
Speaking about the day, Jules talked about how difficult the section of the trek was
“The last 3 miles were so hard, emotionally and every step felt like you were walking on pebbles. Two of the mountain guides caught up with us and gave us so much encouragement and walked us in to the finish line.”
“I felt a sense of relief and a very proud mum as my son Jack had walked every step of the way with me. I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life”
“We came into the finish line with a lovely welcome from fellow BS7 Gym Members Bernadette & Maggie who had completed the 29 mile walk the day before which is an amazing achievement as Maggie was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis last year, so to achieve her goal was incredible.”
"Bernadette and Maggie put such a lot of training into doing this walk and between us all I think we were a great team"
Congratulations to the group from everyone at BS7 Gym. We would also like to say a big thank you to BS7 Gym members who donated money to sponsor the team.
Over £600 raised so far, with donations still coming in.
